Mountain/Skate Board Project

This is a project that allows students to design a Mountain/Skate board, a hobby that relates to most of the students, using SolidWorks. Students start the design process with sketching the details of their board and the graphics that will be applied to their final product. Students then go through the complete design process of their board of choice. When the projects are complete the class votes on the best design that will then have a prototype and/or an actual board built.

What is Drafting Design all about?

Everything that is built, manufactured, or modified is first drawn. Each design starts as an idea then progresses from simple sketches to final construction drawings. Your home, vehicles, furniture, computers, ect., even the clothes on your back were all first designed, drafted with all the technical problems worked out before they were manufactured. The field of Drafting and Design is as vast as the items made or manufactured. Someone had the need, someone designed, engineered and drew the plans before it was built.

Students that take Drafting Design learn skills needed to go onto careers such as: Architecture, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Design, Fashion Design, Landscape Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Interior Design, Graphic Design and Inventing.
